We have developed a feature to import an NPORT-P filing directly into a spreadsheet.
Form NPORT-P
Form NPORT-P is a quarter filing that registered management investment companies file for each fund. It has three parts. Part A contains general information about the about the registrant. Part B contains data about the fund, including asset and liabilities. There is a Part C section for each holding in the fund that contain information about the security, the amount held, and more. The form is fully explained here.
Spreadsheet extension: Import NPORT
Viewing NPORT data on EDGAR is unpleasant at best and awful if one has to manipulate the data. The NPORT data is much more useful in a spreadsheet. We have been delivering this data in a CSV for our clients. However, we built extensions to both Excel and Google Sheets that load the NPORT data directly into a spreadsheet.
The video below demonstrates this feature in a Google Sheet. The extension is already loaded in the sheet. Executing the extension pops up a window that asks for the accession number of an NPORT-P filing. The extension loads the NPORT data into a new spreadsheet.
The screenshot below shows the first rows and columns. Part A is in the first two rows; Part B in the next two rows. The remaining rows are Part C, which might be hundreds of rows.
